On June 16, 2024, we are honoured to have Dr. Teo Ho Pin, Chairman of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board, as the guest of honor and officiating officer for this ceremony. Other distinguished guests included Professor Lim Shih Hui, Head of Traditional & Complementary Medicine and Registrar of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board; Mr. Tan Cheng Gay, Life Senior Honorary Chairman of STCMI; Mr. Lew Chee Beng, PBM; Mr. Ho Kiau Seng, BBM; Honorary Chairmen Mr. Chua Leong Hai, PBM; Mr. Wong Swee Chun, PBM; Honorary Chairmen Mdm. Thia Sia Eng, Tan Sri Mr. Albert Cheng Yong Kim, Mr. Aw Chye Wee; Honorary Advisors Mr. Khoo Boo Liat and Professor Lee Yuan Kun; Medical Advisor Dr. Teo Eng Kiat; Legal Advisor Ms. Jennifer Lim Lay Choo, PBM; Academic Advisor Professor You Ke; and several honorary directors and representatives from various medical associations.


Amidst enthusiastic applause, the new board of directors officially assumed their roles. The new board of directors of STCMI consists of 28 members, while the board of directors of TCIMR comprises 21 members.


During the inauguration luncheon, Chairman Mr. Yeo Eng Koon expressed his firm confidence in the comprehensive development of the institution and research institute in the fields of medical care, education, and research. He also expressed his gratitude for being re-elected as chairman and promised to work closely with the new board members over the next three years to forge a brighter future for Thong Chai and write a new chapter together. He hopes that Thong Chai will continue to make greater contributions to community health and elevate Traditional Chinese Medicine education and research to new heights as it approaches its 160th anniversary celebration.


In his speech, guest of honor Dr. Teo Ho Pin affirmed the achievements of Thong Chai in medical care, education, and research, which have not only enhanced the professional standards of local physicians but also promoted the advantages of Traditional Chinese Medicine on an international scale. Dr. Teo wished Thong Chai continued success in contributing to the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Singapore under the leadership of the new board of directors.


Lastly, as the inauguration ceremony coincided with Father's Day, both Chairman Yang and Dr. Teo extended their heartfelt Father's Day greetings to all the guests, wishing everyone a joyful and blessed holiday. They wished everyone happiness, good health, and all the best in their endeavours.
